The fastest m3u8 downloader online
M3U8 playlists split a video into hundreds of tiny TS segments. This m3u8 downloader reads the playlist, pulls every segment in parallel, and merges them into one clean MP4 file. No ffmpeg, no command line, no software installation.
How to download m3u8 videos as MP4
Get the m3u8 link of the stream
On the page with the video, right-click → Inspect → Network tab → type m3u8 in the filter box, play the video, and copy the playlist URL that shows up. Already have the link? Skip ahead.
Paste it above and click Download Video
The downloader fetches every .ts segment in parallel directly from the stream's server — you watch live progress until it hits 100%.
Save your merged MP4
Click Download MP4 when the progress bar completes and the finished file lands in your downloads folder.
Download m3u8 videos without uploading them
Privacy is the most important trust factor for a downloader: all parsing and merging happens locally in your browser — your m3u8 file never touches our server. We can't see what you download, and we couldn't store your videos even if we wanted to. Please only download content you have the right to save, and respect each website's terms of service.
Can't find the m3u8 link on a page? Use the extension.
Some sites hide their videos deep or only create the m3u8 request after playback starts. With the M3U8to Chrome extension installed, just click the icon on the target page — it automatically captures the HLS stream the page is playing (or has loaded) and hands it straight to this downloader to merge into an MP4.
Which browsers does this m3u8 downloader work in?
The web version works directly in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and other modern browsers — on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. If you prefer a browser-integrated workflow, the Chrome extension is available from the Web Store, and a Firefox version is planned once the extension has proven itself.
M3U8 downloader FAQ
Quick answers before you download.
What is an m3u8 file?
An m3u8 file is a text playlist used by HLS streaming. It doesn't contain the video itself — it lists the addresses of many small .ts video chunks, plus playback metadata. To watch or keep the video, a player (or a downloader like this one) must fetch every chunk the playlist references and join them in order. You can read more in our m3u8 to mp4 guide.
Is this m3u8 downloader really free?
Yes — free, no watermark, no file-count limits, no sign-up. Everything on this page runs locally in your browser, so it costs us (almost) nothing to run, and we pass that along. If advanced features like batch processing or live recording arrive later, they'll be optional extras — the free version stays fully usable.
Why is my m3u8 download stuck at 99%?
Almost always one of these three — try them in order:
- A segment timed out. Hit Convert again (or Cancel and restart) — the downloader retries failed segments automatically, and a second pass usually collects the stragglers.
- The video server is rate-limiting you. Wait a minute and retry, or pause other heavy downloads — CDNs throttle bursts of parallel requests from one IP.
- The stream is encrypted HLS (AES-128). If the playlist declares encryption keys, this online downloader will tell you up front — encrypted streams need the browser extension's capture mode instead.
Can I download live streams with this tool?
The web downloader works with finished videos and with recordings/replays of live streams — anything whose playlist is complete. For capturing a broadcast while it is still airing, use the extension's recording mode instead, which saves the buffered stream as it plays.
Does it work with YouTube / Netflix / TikTok?
No. This tool does not bypass, decrypt, or work around any platform's DRM or access controls — those services don't serve plain m3u8 playlists to browsers anyway. It is built for publicly served HLS streams that you have the right to save, and we ask you to respect each site's terms of service.
